Tiny, harmless wake-up call.

2 June, 2016
The moon is in the waning Crescent (Theurge) Moon phase (20% full).

The brief flash of summer didn't last long, and the morning is chill enough that Trace is in fact quite near the firepit, on one of the stones. At the moment, though, the ahroun is in the middle of what appears to be yoga, stretched out flat along the flagstones in pigeon pose. Or nearly so— he's still a little too tense, a little too alert to movement in the rest of the caern.

Brings-the-Pack appears near the edge of the treeline, silent as a ghost until he speaks. The voice is, again, a masculine, feline purr instead of the prior electronic masking courtesy of Kylo Ren. "Hello. All is well, I take it?" He clarifies, "For the caern's immediate safety, that is."

Trace startles slightly, head lifting until he can catch sight of the mage cat, and there's what looks like it might be a nod otherwise. "As much as we can expect at the moment, ," the Walker confirms, before more slowly rising out of the pose. "All is not well given everything going on, but in the here and now…" When he's gotten towards upright (which looks like it should be even more uncomfortable than the forward version of the pose), there's a moment of pause, and at the end of the fidgeting and movement, Trace is sitting on his heels. "In the here and now it's alright. And actually, I was hoping you'd stop by."

Brings-the-Pack replies with, "I have unfortunately been pre-occupied of late with other matters, but I do wish to keep in touch periodically in the event the current situation changes. Or there is news." He cants a single ear back and inquires, "Why is it that you hoped I would stop by this morning?"

Trace's expression could best be described as a mischievous grin for a moment, and even when that passes, there's a slight smile settled on his face very different from the past encounters. "Well," he says, bending forward for the moment into child's pose, "you typically attend the new moon gatherings, ¿?"

Brings-the-Pack now cants his entire head slightly, the curiosity as to where this line of inquiry is going growing more obvious. "Yes. When possible. Why?" he ends with, tone quizzical in nature.

The Glass Walker turns his head to the side to be able to watch the mage cat, though other than that, Trace does not move. "Well, the alpha had declared that all unpacked Garou should join packs," comes the beginning of the response, "so I did. I was previously packed under Coyote in Steel Angel." There's a long pause, and a slight sigh. "And I joined the pack that is under Coyote here. And, well. I've got a tiny, harmless wake-up call planned for the new moon moot. In case anyone's sleeping, mostly."

Brings-the-Pack seems to know a thing or two about Coyote and/or the resident Coyote pack. "Oh, no," he says. Although perhaps his response is merely a coincidence. "What are you planning?" he inquires. "And is it going to spook someone and potentially provoke a frenzy?"

Trace chuckles a little and halfway nods, though he doesn't move. "It shouldn't spook anyone," Trace says. "Well. At least not much." He continues. "I had Felix bring me some things from the city. Bubble pack, whoopee cushions, those cards that have the singing thing inside them, party poppers that spew confetti, you know? I'm going to variously rig the clearing around the compound."

Brings-the-Pack listens attentively and seriously. He extrapolates, "Setting little harmless booby traps as a means of reminding the garou and their allies that they need to be alert?"

Trace nods once again. "Precisely. Some of which are going to be up in the trees, and well," he says, "I'd appreciate it if you…" there's a restrained chuckle as Trace sits up again, "wouldn't let the cat out of the bag? If people knew there was going to be a prank, where would the point be?"

Brings-the-Pack seems to weigh a number of factors, remaining silent for a good— almost uncomfortable— 10 seconds before responding. "You know the tree that I prefer. If you would leave that one alone, that would better… be appreciated," he self-amends. "And I will see to it that the cat stays in the bag. Or tree. As the case may be." He doesn't seem particularly enthused at the practical joking. Perhaps he's not the practical joker type? He does tend to be fairly serious most of the time. "This is not one of those jokes where you tell individuals they are in on the prank and then, when everyone arrives, they all realize that they were all privy to the secret and that all were pranked?"

Trace tilts his head to one side. "There will be no confetti-glitter-releasing party poppers in that tree," Trace agrees. "And no, although that can have its place… but I do not think that it would serve as well to make people remain alert." He grins. "As of yet, you are the only person I have told aside from Felix. And that was because I needed things to pull this off that I cannot very well get while remaining on the Bawn as a Guardian."

Brings-the-Pack considers this new bit of information and, again, momentarily dwells upon it before offering up further comments. "I would prefer if none learned that you told me. As an ally of the sept and not a garou myself, it places me in an awkward position. Garou can play pranks on other garou, but I do not feel it would be prudent for the sept to view me as someone who knew about these pranks in advance." There's a momentary pause before a request is made. "Please put a party popper in the tree on the branch that I visit, so it appears I also fell prey to the prank as well."

Trace grins again. "Well, if you say so. I can, however, make sure it isn't one of the several that I have rigged with a little extra black powder to be especially loud," Trace offers. There's a nod, and a thoughtful pause, before the ahroun continues. "Most of the prank, however, is triggered from ground level. Motion sensors! My initial concern was that if you had noticed before the prank was to go off, you would have inadvertently alerted people to it. I appreciate your discretion."

"And I hope people see it for what it was meant and not an insult. Garou have a peculiar sense of humor. And sometimes none at all," the mage cat claims, perhaps even speaking from personal experience and/or observations. "I hope you come away unscathed."

There is a nod. "If I don't, it's my own damn fault," Trace says, getting up now to pick up a piece of firewood and add it into the fire. "Plus, I mean. Have you heard how tinny those things that make the sounds in cards are? Anyone who is truly offended by a tinny rendition of pop goes the weasel…" The ahroun shrugs. "The moon will be small. And while that does not assure things," this seems to be his own admission of experience and culpability here, "it is the best time to pull such a prank."

"I know nothing about any of these things," the mage-cougar claims slowly. "And I had no part nor involvement in any of it." Seems like he already has his story/defense lined up and ready to go.

"Involvement in what now?" Trace asks. It's not the most convincing, but the ahroun does manage to keep a straight face while he asks and sits back down. There's a moment of slightly more comfortable silence, and then the Walker adds, "I never did get the chance to… apologise to you. For my overreaction. Last month. It wasn't exactly my best moment, there."

Brings-the-Pack gives a subtle wink— which is decidedly odd coming from a cougar. "I was curious as to what I had done or said that had unintentionally irritated you."

Trace nods once. "I misinterpreted what you had said in the heat of the moment. All of this shit going on right now… it isn't very potential to me. I lost my home to it once already," he says, quiet. There's not much tension, but the buried fire of rage is there just like it always is. "It wasn't your fault at all."

Brings-the-Pack asks, "Let me know if I say or do something that offends. If I have, it's likely because I did not realize the greater context." He adds, "It's not wise to go and willingly push a garou's buttons, so I try very hard not to. And feel free to criticize me. I have a fairly thick skin, and I know I have much to learn."

Trace offers the mage cat a slight smile, and another nod. "All the same," he says, "I could not have expected you to realise what a sore point that was for me. And it is my own responsibility to keep a handle on my rage. I do try to do what I eventually did that day, and excuse myself from the situation, or take a walk, or whatever. I'm Fostern, I know better. Although I realise that ahrouns aren't particularly known for wisdom," Trace says, "and ahrouns who follow Coyote even less so."

Brings-the-Pack offers a nod in response. "And I know enough to let a garou who is walking away walk away." His head pivots, as if hearing some distant sound, and he then sighs. "I need to go. Good luck with that thing I know nothing about." He turns to leave.
